Advisory Council/Membership meeting
Meets to discuss Center happenings. Your chance to have input to the Center operation. All members are invited to attend. 1 PM on the second Tuesday of the month. Most months there is a lunch available before the meeting for $5.
Next meeting June 2 at 1 PM.
Art Group
Normally meets on Tuesday at 9:00 AM.
If interested, whatever your favorite artistic medium, come by and bring your materials. Everyone will share their art and ideas.
Battery Recycling
Bring in your old batteries to be recycled. The recycle container is in the coat room.
There is a new battery recycling program at the Gillespie Center! Some batteries contain dangerous metals such as mercury, silver, lead or cadmium. Size alone isn't the best guide as some of the tiniest batteries are the most hazardous. Drop off all types and sizes of household batteries, just look for our container labeled "battery recycling." It is currently located in our coat room in the front lobby area of the center.
The Hennepin County Battery Program has been collecting dry cell batteries from drop off sites throughout the county since the early 1990's. There are currently almost 200 locations to drop off batteries around the county including retail stores, libraries, city and county buildings, senior centers and schools.
Thank you for joining us at The Gillespie Center to help keep our land fills free of these hazardous metals.
Birthday Party
The Last Wednesday of each month at noon
Come and help us celebrate our members birthdays for the month. If it is your birthday this month - be honored at the lunch. The rest of us will help you celebrate. Call the center to make a reservation of signup at the front desk. (If it is your birthday tell the receptionist to put a "B" by your name. (952) 472-6501. Reservations must be made by noon on Monday.
Blood Pressure Screening
Have your blood pressure checked every Wednesday at 11:30 AM.
Book Club

The Book Club will be having a discussion and lunch at the SouthShore Center. Sign up at least one day prior to the event 952-474-7769.

Bridge Group
Wednesday's at 1 PM. Party Bridge just for fun (and small prizes). $1 per player for prizes, materials, and a Gillespie Donation. Contact David Cross (952) 474-4898 or cell (612) 229-4563 for information, sign up or changes.
Bakery Fundraiser
Volunteers pick up day old bakery goods from Cub Foods each day. You can buy them for a suggested donation of half the price to raise funds for The Gillespie Center.
If you are interested in volunteering, either for the morning bakery run or for end of day "cleanup", contact Dee at (952) 472-2987.
